GIF (Graphics Interchange Format)
GIF is short for Graphics Interchange Format. It is a graphic file format which uses the compression scheme developed by CompuServe. Due to compression, GIF files are small and can be transmitted over internet fast. That's why it is the most commonly used graphics format on the World Wide Web.
