JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)

JPEG is Short for Joint Photographic Experts Group, and pronounced as jay-peg. JPEG is a compression standard developed by Joint Photo Graphics Experts Group, an industry committee. It is a lossy compression technique for color images. It is commonly used on world wide web for photographs etc. because it reduces the image size considerably, although some quality is also lost.
